Virginia Water - February 2020

The fields and tracks are really muddy after the winter wet, so I suggested a walk around Virginia Water today for our Crecy Creekers monthly outing, since the majority is on proper pathways. As luck would have it, according to the website the cafes within the park were to be closed for 48 hours, so we needed a plan B for lunch.

It turned out that Richard has NEVER been here and Robert & Pauline not for about 15 years.

A bit of online research, and I booked the Thatched Tavern at Cheapside, just a short drive from our starting point. John, recovering from his hernia op, would meet us there for lunch.

A bit of a breeze whizzing across the lake, but the wind was behind us at the start of our walk

Margaret, Richard, Robert and Pauline passing the cascade

A Bevy of Swans.. apparently. Thanks Pauline!

We walked over the bridge, and turned left just short of the totem pole, following the lakeside, but soon it was out of sight. This was a bonus, since it was well protected from the wind. A few Camelia were just starting to flower, and even a Rhododendron.

Then we had the lake in view once more, but the wind seemed to have dropped. Nice group of Silver Birches by the water side.

Then on our right, a little bridge crosses a stream.

Back to the car, which Robert drove, and we met up with John at 12.45 for what turned out to be a very nice lunch, with white cloths and napkins at The Thatched Tavern. Liver, Skate, Fish & Chips and Sea Bass followed by a pud for some... Apple and Prune crumble, S T Pudding and Creme Caramel. All very yummy.

Good to see you all. Hoping for drier conditions next month to get out in the countryside.
