Ewelme Walk June 2019

A small group today, just 4 of us for a beautiful walk starting in Ewelme.
Thanks to Peter for driving Andy, Dorothy and me. (John was on airport duty with Stacey)

We tried to follow Walk 2 on this guide, and after a flaky start, we set off uphill a little, emerging at a piggery. Already nice views.

Lots of  mother piggies.. but where were the babies?

spotted some at last

Beautiful fields of Barley, blowing in the breeze

Cows sitting down is never a good weather forecast!

It's that way. The hill in the distance is Swyncombe.

Can anyone name this wild flower?

Think this one is Bladder Campion

Once downhill, we turned left and walked on the road for a couple of hundred yards, then turned right into another field. So far so good!

Amazing textures of the glaucous crop stems in contrast to the yellowish seed heads

Warming up. time to ditch a layer

Looking back in Ewelme direction

At this point we turned right to follow the right of the field edge. I think this is where we went wrong. Looking at the directions again it reads "continue where path switches to right field edge."

We walked along this track... it wasn't the right track, but nice anyway!

I took a photo on my phone to try to increase the size of the map. We turned right BEFORE we got to
point 3, along towards The Nuttery. Then turned left towards the farm. We should have carried on a bit further then turned right walking through the farm, at point marked 66

Had we gone the right way, we would have missed this great view as we approached the farm from a different direction!

We continued along a track/road which took us in the right direction at least, although we should have been walking through fields across Cow Common. But we made it back to the carpark anyway, then did a walk through the Almshouses and Church.

We then had lunch at Ewelme Post Office, before a walk through the village.

I made a short film in Ewelme church a few years ago, just messing about practicing. You can see it here if interested (3mins). nice restful music, so turn up the volume.
